I create graphic works of glass that combine modern design with natural, wild imagery.
I learned traditional stained glass during an apprentice-style education in Paris, France. Here I learned the nearly-forgotten art of medieval kiln fired glass enameling, where enamels are hand-painted onto glass then fired at 1300 degrees in a kiln. In 2007 I began to adapt glass enameling to dishware and jewelry, discovering this ancient technique fits gracefully into modern décor.
My interest in nature comes from my childhood in Minnesota’s St. Croix River valley, where fireflies, beavers, oaks and owls were the backdrop of my daily life. I have since lived in urban areas like Paris, Singapore and San Diego. In these cities I frequented great architecture, boutiques and museums acquiring an appetite for modern urban design.
Now I have returned to Minnesota and opened my studio, Fox & Clover, and continue to invent new and clever ways to present nature through modern enameled glass.
