My artwork is an intuitive and emotional response to my life experiences. Travel has been an inspiration for the content of my work. Sometimes the paintings reflect a quiet meditation of color while other works represent images from time past and present. The surfaces I paint on are wood panels and canvas. Color is of primary importance. Often the surface is painted with several layers of acrylic to achieve the subtle nuances. Because of my tactile nature I might use cloth to move the paint, blending and removing colors. I also enjoy a variety of mixed media that become the marks and texture of the work. My goal is to convey an emotive and sensuous quality in the paintings as I work in a contemporary style. The abstract spirit in the paintings allows for my personal expression. Color, content and marks on the work encourage the viewer to create their own interpretation. In this way, the creative process continues.
