Making beautiful and functional art is in my blood. I grew up surrounded by fabric, quilts and patterns in my family’s quilt store—a rare opportunity for three generations of women to work together in a family business. This connection has had a large influence on my work as a clay artist. My pottery designs are inspired by motifs and patterns from quilts and textiles, both historical and contemporary. This translates into my own unique illustrations on the surface of the pots. Most of my work begins on the potter's wheel. I also make a series of slab built work and handmade tiles. Each piece is meticulously decorated by hand using a variety of tools to impress the design into the clay. Glazes are food safe and can be used in the microwave and dishwasher. My pieces are intended to be used and loved, enhancing their owner's homes and tables.
