A modern day
constructivist, local artist Mel Tudisco forges her vision
of the natural world in her upcoming exhibit entitled Earth,
Water, Sky.Heavily influenced by the
manipulation of
clay within ceramics, Tudisco applies the same building techniques to
copper
surfaces by hammering, engraving, puncturing, bending and in all ways
contorting
the metal to suit her dimensional art pieces.Acrylic paints add to the complexity of the works to soften and
enhance
the heavy, metal built surfaces.These
paintings often depict a loose interpretation of a landscape where
highly organic
forms merge to reveal the many layers of the Earth’s surface over time.
